Photo 365 - On Assignment

Hello There Everyone and Welcome to the Blog

I have three sets of photos here. The first is my photo project (the original page) entitled Photo 365 - On Assignment. It was a spin on a 365 photo project. I love the idea of the 365 project, but I needed a little more structure. I also needed some help getting out of my photographic comfort zone. I decided to take suggestions for monthly themes from the people around me and those who view my photos. I finished the project on January 15th, but please feel free to go back and enjoy my year in pictures.

The second page is dedicated to my favorite photographic subject, nature. Right now that page contains just photos I have taken in Everglades National Park. I just finished updating it, adding more photos, captions, and common and scientific names for all the shots. Please enjoy!

The third page is from the second UM Spring Football game in 2010. This was my first foray into sports photography. I was "working" this event with a friend of mine who blogs for a Hurricane's sports blog. All the shots came from the stands because we didn't have sideline passes, but I still got some decent shots. I hope to update this page with shots from this year's spring game. Go Canes!

Enjoy the blog!

Photo 365 - On Assignment - February (Small Things)

Juvenile American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)

Went out to Shark Valley this afternoon. Weather and lighting looked great as I left my house around 2:30, was really pumped. As I got closer to Shark Valley, read when I was driving past the casino, it started getting very cloudy - boo lack of light. As I got near the park entrance I noticed another problem, cars were parked on the side of the street for about mile leading up to the park. Damn you cooler weather!! *shaking fist at sky* Parking Lot Full signs added to my dread. Fortunately when I pulled in most people were on their way out and I was able to park in the lot, not a mile down the road. The lighting was ok, nothing special. The animals on the other hand were awesome. Gators were laying out all over the place, including the babies as is obvious above. This little guy was just chilling on two stumps, one of his little buddies was laying just in front him. Momma gator was laying on the opposite bank so I wasn't to worried about getting close to this guy. He was kind enough to even open his eyes for me, a nice touch.
