Photo 365 - On Assignment

Hello There Everyone and Welcome to the Blog

I have three sets of photos here. The first is my photo project (the original page) entitled Photo 365 - On Assignment. It was a spin on a 365 photo project. I love the idea of the 365 project, but I needed a little more structure. I also needed some help getting out of my photographic comfort zone. I decided to take suggestions for monthly themes from the people around me and those who view my photos. I finished the project on January 15th, but please feel free to go back and enjoy my year in pictures.

The second page is dedicated to my favorite photographic subject, nature. Right now that page contains just photos I have taken in Everglades National Park. I just finished updating it, adding more photos, captions, and common and scientific names for all the shots. Please enjoy!

The third page is from the second UM Spring Football game in 2010. This was my first foray into sports photography. I was "working" this event with a friend of mine who blogs for a Hurricane's sports blog. All the shots came from the stands because we didn't have sideline passes, but I still got some decent shots. I hope to update this page with shots from this year's spring game. Go Canes!

Enjoy the blog!

Photo 365 - On Assignment - February (Small Things)

Swamp Cotton (I totally made that one up....)

Another fine example of me wandering through the the glades and photographing the little random things that no one else is looking at. Just to be clear for all those who have not seen a cotton plant, this NOT cotton! This is a tree releasing seeds (see those tiny black specs) which uses this "cottony" substance to help distribute the seeds via the wind. Everything in the glades was covered with this white stuff. If you go back and look at the baby gator pick from a few days ago you can see some of this white stuff on his snout. I'm not sure what plant this was, but I'm on the lookout for a good guidebook on south florida plants. If I can identify this I'll post it. Hope this makes all your northerners covered in snow feel a bit warmer!!
